Yesterday, the modem for our landline stopped working.

I unplugged it, lifted it and water started running on my arm.

Our water cooler was leaking water into the modem.

(The modem is in the basement and the water cooler is above in the kitchen.)

We let it dry for a few hours, plugged it in and it didn't work.

We called our provider, gave our info, then they said they detected the modem.

The green lights were on. The modem was working again.

I'm glad we didn't have to get a technician to replace the modem.

We put a Ziploc on top of the modem to protect it until we find where the water is coming from.

I downloaded the series yesterday and put it online today.

My CDN (philcdn.net) is not working and the Cloudflare website does not load in my version of Safari.

I just reconfigured my server to serve videos directly instead of through Cloudflare.

For the last few weeks, I've been sorting the movies ignoring the "The".

I now changed it back to sorting the "The" titles together.

After many years, the CFL light in my room burned out.

I replaced it with a new LED light.

For my work, my boss requested I make one of those "cookie prompts".

He said we are now required by law ("Québec loi 25") to have a "This site uses cookies" prompt.

I do not agree.

I hate those cookie prompts.

First : Even if you click 'deny', the site can still use cookies.

Second : To me, the only proper place for this pop-up is in the browser, not on every single website.

That way, 'deny' would actually work because the browser is in control of the cookies.

Yesterday, I rebooted my server and it wouldn't start anymore.

I had to rebuild it from scratch and apply my backup.

(I made a backup right before rebooting, as I always do).

I went from a 4 TB drive to a 8 TB drive.

I will spend the next few days making sure that everything works.

My various websites should be working.

The Plan :

- I installed Ubuntu Server 22.04.
- I made a copy of the original /etc/ folder.
- I rsync'd the /etc/ folder from my backup 4 TB drive to my new 8 TB drive.
- I overwrote /etc/fstab with the one that was installed.
- I also rsync'd my /home/ and /var/www/ folders.

I am now in the process of reinstalling everything.

Once I am done, I will put the new 8 TB backup drive into my server and make a new backup on it.

(I have two drives in my server : a "main" one and a "backup" one. When one goes bad, I replace it.)

The easiest way to backup all mysql tables is to copy the /var/lib/mysql/ folder to your backup drive.

Then, before mysql-server is installed (or stopped if installed), copy the /var/lib/mysql/ from your backup drive to your main drive.

No need to export to SQL and then import.

I still have all databases, users and tables.
