That time also includes the design and the trial and error.

I remember an old MythBusters episode where Adam made a gun to shoot a nail into a concrete wall. Expecting to zipline on the cable attached to the nail.

Impractical.

When you hang on the cable, it pulls the nail out with a lot of force.

To get the nail in in such a way that it would not come out, you need a lot of force.

That force comes from the bullet in the gun.

"Every action has an equal and opposite reaction."

The gun would go backwards into the guy who shot it. With a lot of force.

That would hurt. Even if you made the gun heavier.

I opened the ceiling where the two old Bell terminal blocks used to be (I removed the blocks years ago).

There are four cables :

Two grey grounds, one white phone cable and one grey phone cable.

I skinned the eight wires and twisted the four pairs together.

Unfortunately, I could not detect the short in the apartment.

The first apartment socket has two phone cables : One comes from I-don't-know and the other probably goes to the second socket.

I first tried on the 26th, but I had problems with my "HDMI Video Capture" showing the colour bars.

I fixed the problem today my passing the signal through a spare HDMI splitter I had.

My setup :

I have a HDMI-over-Cat6 module with a "local loop-out".

That loop-out is connected to the input of my splitter.

Port 2 of the splitter is connected to my "Video Capture".

Port 1 is not used.

I think the problem was that my module was not properly doing the 60 Hz to 30 Hz conversion.

I think my splitter was doing that conversion better.
